Established in 1992, the Family Self-Sufficiency (FSS) program is a voluntary federal housing program that helps families increase their earnings, build assets, and achieve greater financial stability. In 2015, HUD authorized Multifamily properties to run FSS programs for the first time.

Compass Working Capital operates financial coaching  and savings programs that support families with low income to build assets, achieve their financial goals, and become financially secure. In 2010, Compass developed and launched a new asset building and financial capability model to expand the scope and impact of the FSS program. In 2016, we launched a National FSS Network to support organizations from around the country interested in implementing FSS. 

In collaboration with our housing partners, Compass has launched more Multifamily FSS programs than any other organization in the country. Now we're unveiling this new, step-by-step online course to help you launch a successful program and become an early adopter of multifamily FSS.
